Today, Swipe has announced a new Android-based smartphone in India, in the form of Swipe Konnect 5.0, an entry-level device that arrives on shelves with a 5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) touchscreen display.

The mobile phone was made official with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor inside, but it is running under the aging Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system flavor, which could prove a major drawback for many.

Swipe has unveiled the handset with an 8-megapixel camera on the back, with LED flash, as well as with a 3.2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Moreover, the mobile phone features 1GB of RAM, along with 8GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space. It also sports dual-SIM.

The smartphone is powered by a 1950 mAh battery and also arrives on shelves with all the usual connectivity capabilities inside, such as WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS receiver. Moreover, it offers support for 3G networks.

As fonearena notes, Swipe Konnect 5.0 is set to become available for purchase with a price tag of Rs. 8,999 ($152/€112) attached to it. Apparently, the mobile phone maker is also looking to launch 10 new Konnect devices before the end of the year.
