Oops: Hammacher Schlemmer did it again!

Hammacher Schlemmer is a name well-known for its ingenuity and for the lack of technological conformism and I can vouch this recognizance is well-worth the reality. From the all-tube iPod speakers I was telling you about not so long time ago in the "Insane Speakers" article, things did not come to a stop, au contraire, they have even sped up to even wackier results.

It's time for HS to throw in the newest iPod accessory, perfectly adapted to the aquatic environment and if you ask me, truly missed and needed, so far. Namely, what does Hammacher Schlemmer bring is a wireless (could it be otherwise) system which will allow you to play music from an iPod as far away as the docking station can reach... around 150 feet!

The system is more than a simple speaker: it houses a pair of 3" 6W full-range drivers which can make quite a bark if needed and "set free". And if you think you will be stuck with your iPod (all Nanos, 30 and 60 GB iPods or 20GB Photo), you're wrong: HS managed to insert an AM/FM radio receiver in the new device as well as an alarm clock system!

Besides the remote control, the new iPod accessory can be easily connected to a PC or CD player and its LCD display is quite easy to read; 3 audio/video out jacks while the docking station is AC-connected and recharges your portable players as you use them.

Needless to say that it is not intended for actual swimming but it can be safely placed on the brink of a pool or spa without any more fears of splashing it - obviously, the dock and the iPod can be placed in a much safer location, given the rather big range covered by the wireless connection.

The whole set will cost you just a nickel under $200, available for immediate shipping on the Hammacher Schlemmer website.
