An updated flavor of the SwiftKey virtual keyboard application is now available for download for the owners of Android-based devices out there, namely version 5.0, which brings along a great deal of enhancements and new features.

The mobile application is now completely free, though the company has found a new way to monetize, which includes the launch of a SwiftKey Store, accessible straight from within the application.

What users will find in this store is a variety of themes, premium ones, which have been long expected to arrive, as a recent article on Android Police notes.

Apparently, all current premium SwiftKey users will receive a gift of 10 new themes (in a Premium Pack), for free. The rest of users, however, will need to pay for additional themes, should they want to install them.

However, this is not the only new feature included in the application update, as a nice range of other enhancements will also land on user’s devices along with it.

There is a brand-new default theme included in the software, which should provide users with a better experience than the previously available one, that’s for sure.

Moreover, the application comes with improved Flow Trail Graphics, while also providing users with the possibility to enter numbers easier than before, courtesy of a dedicated number row now available on the keyboard.

On top of that, the new SwiftKey Keyboard 5.0 for Android comes with Emoji, which will allow users to express themselves in brand-new ways.

It will also enable them to easily select Emoji manually, as they will show up in the prediction bar. However, selecting the ones that you like the most might prove a bit of a challenge in the beginning, since there are 800 emoji to choose from.

According to the available release notes, the update also comes with Emoji word substitution suggestions from key words, as well as with Emoji suggestions in context learned from individual use.

Moreover, it appears that users will be able to access Predict Emoji setting, in order to personalize their experience with them. The new flavor of SwiftKey also comes with Automatic Smiley/Enter key behavior, it seems.

The prediction engine of the app was also updated, and some new languages were added to the software, including Belarusian, Mongolian, Tatar, Uzbek, and Welsh.

All in all this seems to be a nice update for the app, especially since it makes it free, thus accessible to more users out there.

You can download SwiftKey Keyboard 5.0 for Android from Softpedia today. The SwiftKey Tablet Keyboard has also been updated.
