Purple is the "it" color of the moment

Purple is without a doubt the IT color of the moment and if you had any second thoughts whatsoever, one quick look at two of the latest, glamorous red carpet events in the past two weeks should help remove any lingering doubt from your mind - I'm talking about the Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala, which took place about ten days ago, and the recent opening of the Cannes Film Festival in France, which took place yesterday. Purple, you see, was the color of choice for many of today's consummated fashionistas who chose designs by Marchesa, Alberta Ferretti or Lanvin in various shades of the infamous plum hue for an ultra-trendy, spot-on look.

So, ladies, if you're wondering what color is a certified winner, purple is your best bet. Anything from the rich wine-infused hue of crushed purple grapes to lighter, more tame nuances of mauve, lilac, lavender rose, amethyst and aubergine spells "hottest color trend of the moment". Almost any tone or shade of purple fits in with the current purple sensation that's sweeping the world of fashion. For daywear, purple goes on virtually anything: deep purple coats, dresses, tops, handbags and shoes will give you a sophisticated air of warm stylishness.

For evening wear, it's time to put modesty aside and start making bolder fashion statements. An intense purple dress in lush satin or silk will definitely help you get noticed. Purple tunic dresses are also one of the biggest trends of the season. Wear them with a pair of black opaque tights or leggings and a matching pair of high-heeled pumps and you'll be at the very cutting edge of chic-cool. Purple also goes for accessories - scarves, bangles, earrings, necklaces, whatever crosses your mind - just buy it in purple and you'll be all set.
