After confirming the availability of the Galaxy S II in Russia for mid-May, Samsung is getting ready to deliver the device to Swedish customers as well.

The smartphone has been picked up by the Telenor carrier, which is now taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S II.

The smartphone is available for free upon signing a new two-year agreement for at least 299kr (about $50) per month, or for 5295kr (about $850) without a contract.

The Korean handset manufacturer is preparing to launch its Galaxy S II flagship Android-based smartphone in the majority of European territories.

However, it seems that the company has so far confirmed the release of the phone only in a few countries, but it is expected that the Galaxy S II will be generally available in Europe in May.

As expected, Telenor Sweden has yet to announce the phone's specific availability date, but rumors say that customers who pre-order the phone might receive it by mid-May.

The Galaxy S II comes with the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system with TouchWiz UI 4.0 on top and is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor (with Mali-400MP GPU).

The phone's large 4.3 inches touchscreen is based on the company's latest Super AMOLED Plus technology.

The device is delivered with an accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and gyroscope sensor for easy gaming.

More importantly, Telenor customers will be able to take advantage of the carrier's LTE network, as the Galaxy S II supports up to HSPA+ 21 Mbps data connections.

Unfortunately, overseas customers will have to wait a bit more, as Samsung has recently confirmed for MobileSyrup, that the Galaxy S II will be available in Canada in late Q2 or, more likely, in early Q3.

It seems that the manufacturer is still in talks with some of Canada's major carriers, which is probably the main reason behind the delay.
