The Secret Service has intercepted a suspicious letter addressed to US President Barack Obama. Not many details are known at this point in time, but they believe it’s linked to a similar case of earlier this week.

“A suspicious letter sent to President Obama and received at an off-site location away from the White House is being investigated as possibly linked to another mailing with ricin sent to a senator, NBC 4 New York has learned,” NBC reports.

It contained a substance that is yet to be identified but is believed to have been ricin, which is a highly toxic protein obtained from castor-oil seed.

“A letter addressed to the president was received at a remote screening facility containing a suspicious substance. We are working closely with Capitol Police and the FBI in this investigation,” a spokesperson for the Secret Service says.

Story developing, stay tuned.
