On Sunday, after Britain’s Got Talent grand finale, Susan Boyle was admitted to the reputed London mental health clinic The Priory for being stressed out and exhausted. The following day, media watchdog Ofcom launched an investigation into whether ITV and Britain’s Got Talent breached the broadcasting code for allowing a visibly upset and not ok Susan on the show in the first place. Now, judge Amanda Holden is telling Larry King that there was no “exploitation” to begin with, but rather the media was at fault for Boyle’s breakdown.

According to the actress turned television personality, the producers of the show and ITV bosses did everything they could to make sure things turned out smoothly, so talk of them exploiting Susan Boyle for higher ratings is absurd. Moreover, they even took extra steps to ensure that the Scottish star was well taken care of when speculation of her being on a verge of a breakdown began, so no one can actually blame them for what happened next, Holden tells Larry King on CNN.

“We are a very loyal show, we love Susan very much. All the contestants that appear on the show are extraordinarily well looked after. She is getting the best support she could possibly be getting at the moment.” Holden says of Susan Boyle’s current condition. The media alone was the one responsible for the breakdown and subsequent hospitalization. “It was just in the last week that the downturn in press in our country I think maybe stressed her out a little bit and I think she was just quite upset by all the exaggerated stories and falsehoods that were written about her.” Amanda explains on the popular late night show.

Susan Boyle will remain at The Priory for a couple of days more, until doctors establish she is well over the stress and pressure that came with appearing on the show. However, Amanda reveals, the 48-year-old unlikely star is positively burning with anticipation for her future, since she can hardly wait to be released from the clinic and pursue a singing career, which she will be doing with the help of Simon Cowell, as we also informed you a while back. The only thing that has Holden concerned, though, is Boyle apparently having the hots for judge Piers Morgan.

“He [Susan’s brother] believes that she wants to come home within a matter of days rather than weeks. And she is excited about the prospect of seeing what is out there. She seems to have a crush on Piers Morgan – that is the only thing I’m worried about.” the talent competition judge tells Larry King. As fans must know, Amanda Holden is currently touring the US in the hope she’ll launch her career there as well, after the model of fellow judges Morgan and Cowell.
