When she stepped on the auditions stage for Britain’s Got Talent a few months ago, Susan Boyle said her biggest career accomplishment would be to sing with her idol, Elaine Paige. Many in the audience sneered at her back then, but last night, as she was shooting for an ITV special, “I Dreamed a Dream: The Susan Boyle Story,” Miss Boyle got to see her dream come true, The Telegraph informs.

The ITV one-hour special airs this Sunday in the UK and will include, according to the details made available to the media, songs that have never been performed in front of the camera, as well as footage shot during the BGT tour that followed the finale of the show. The special will also include a very special duet, one that not even Miss Boyle herself knew of until the cameras started rolling and she found herself on the same stage with her one idol, Elaine Paige.

“The former Britain’s Got Talent contestant joined the 61-year-old singer to perform Paige’s duet ‘I know Him So Well.’ Boyle, 48, had been kept in the dark about the pairing until shortly before the performance but appeared overcome with joy to sing alongside Paige,” The Telegraph writes. Previously, Miss Boyle had spoken of her love for Paige’s music, saying she would often stand in front of the mirror and sing her songs using a hairbrush as a microphone.

Seeing Paige in the flesh and realizing she was about to sing with her was the culmination of her biggest dream ever, Miss Boyle said after the taping. “I never thought I would see myself standing on the same stage with such an icon from West End theatre, let alone singing with her as an equal,” she revealed. Elaine Paige clearly echoed the feeling of admiration and respect, saying that, “It was a pleasure to finally sing with Susan, she was a delight to work with and I think we more than did justice to one of my favorite songs.”

Proving that she’s always surprising, Miss Boyle reportedly broke into an energetic dance routine while singing one of the tracks included on her debut album, “I Dreamed a Dream,” called “Who I Was Born to Be.” When the entire crew was asked to reshoot the scene, the singer did a repeat of the same dance routine, The Telegraph says, which somehow threw off some members of the audience.
