The upcoming The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will force players to abandon the traditional shooter mindset and look for alternative ways to progress when faced with more than three undead enemies at the same time.

Glenn Gamble, a system designer working on the game, tells VG247 that the team was inspired by the television series and the way characters dealt with their enemies.

He states, “Three Walkers should be something that a skilled player could take on hand-to-hand, but a novice player may need to take a step back and say, ‘I may need to think of a way around this’.”

He adds, “I helped design the combat system and my record is six. I can only take on six Walkers in hand-to-hand combat.”

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is set to be launched on March 19 in North America and March 22 in Europe on the PC, the Wii U from Nintendo, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
