The most burning desire remains a cut-and-paste feature

While this is not a scientific survey (far from it), former Editor-in-Chief, PC World, Harry McCracken, decided to see how the iPhone community was feeling about its device of choice lately. Apparently, most of the users are satisfied and, in some cases, downright excited about the device's features and the services that come with it.

Questions ranged from general aspects about Apple's smartphone, to specific OS features and the issues surrounding them. The App Store was also a strong focus point in the survey, which counted “2,150 users of both the iPhone 3G and the original model.” With the results in, it was confirmed that 84 percent of respondents were actual Mac users as well. Over half of those were MobileMe subscribers. Half of those (this is the last slice, really) were generally satisfied with Apple's glitchy service.

While the vast majority of respondents considered themselves satisfied with the iPhone, all of the surveyed had problems with it. Crashes and freezes were mentioned the most, though many had other issues as well, such as those that iPhone 2.1 was supposed to fix. Despite all this, most surveyed individuals rated the iPhone at a good or excellent value.

When asked about the App Store, 75 percent of those questioned revealed they had downloaded at least ten applications from the venue, while 81 percent rated the store either excellent or good. Many users also went on expressing their discontent towards Apple's ongoing application rejections, calling it a “bad decision” at most.

But the list of noted shortcomings doesn't stop here. Surprisingly, a better camera and the ability to tether the phone, and use it as a modem for the computer is on the list of burning demands from the same satisfied users. Most of them would also give an arm or a leg for cut and paste, while none had a problem with the virtual keyboard. Almost all respondents had the currently-available version of the iPhone OS installed.

So, how are you and your iPhone getting along?
