14 DAY TRIAL // A couple of weeks ago, word got out that Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney Spears’ younger sister, had been involved in a serious brawl in a pita shop in Louisiana and that she’d broken up the fight by dragging a friend to safety behind the counter and then waving around a huge knife.
With it, she managed to keep the men fighting in check, until police arrived, the report further said. As it turns out, that part about Jamie Lynn using a knife to stop the fight was entirely accurate, as the surveillance video below can confirm.

The incident occurred at the Pita Pit in Hammond and was the second in two consecutive nights. This is why the initial report from the police said that Spears’ friend had been hit in the head with a bottle, because they mixed up the fight from the previous night with this one.
As it turns out, the friend wasn’t hit with a bottle, but she did get knocked down as she was probably trying to break up the fight that had erupted unexpectedly. In the video, you can see an agitated Jamie Lynn trying to get the guys fighting to stop, to no avail.
Then, in a moment, she went behind the counter and grabbed a serrated, 7-inch bread knife and waved it around until they cooled off. The guy behind the counter is seen talking on the phone, probably to the police – and at one point, he blocks Jamie Lynn from getting back in the room with the knife, most likely afraid that she would hurt someone with it.
Video goes viral
The footage lifted from the surveillance camera has gone viral for a variety of reasons: first of all, this is Britney’s sister we’re talking about and even if she didn’t have a career (and fans) of her own, that alone would have been enough to get her media attention.
Secondly, she always seemed like a very quiet and nice girl, so seeing her react this way by reaching for a knife to threaten with it a bunch of enraged men fighting is the last thing you would have thought her capable of.
As of now, despite the fact that the video went viral, Jamie Lynn is yet to address the incident directly, but she did seem to acknowledge it with the tweet below, which says that she’s more than this overreaction she had, in a situation of genuine crisis.
No charges have been brought against any party involved in the fight.
