Randomness FTW!

Here is some good news - the LAX airport has deployed a new security measure, in the hope that other airports will follow in their tracks. It seems like a great development, as it involves guessing what a terrorist would think and countering it. This is all about randomization - as Newsweek informs us, the LAX has begun using a new type of software, called ARMOR. This program is used to randomize patrol routes and make it impossible for anyone to make a "map" of where the airport cops are spread.

This is a great security measure, and let me explain why. Terrorists don't just shove a bomb up their? sleeves and then start running around looking for a spot to hide the bomb. It's not that easy - though terrorism is a reckless act, it involves careless planning and sometimes the bad guys keep a location under surveillance for months if not years, before actually attacking. This is no new fact, as it has been pointed out on TV hundreds of times before, but only recently have security forces started to act against it.

By using this program, they will thwart any chance that the terrorists might have to "know the enemy", which in our case is the security department. If they can't carefully plan the attacks, and rely mostly on luck, then they will be botched up a lot easier by the security teams. Say you're a terrorist, and you think you've ventured on a route with no guards, well this could have been a good tactic before, but now you just might be surprised to find out a bomb-sniffing German-Sheppard growling at your back!

If this works as well as we all hope it will, then airport-terrorism might just be crushed for good! I hope more airports in more countries pick up this initiative, as it seems a great security measure to me!
