A fearless surfer may have just ridden the biggest wave ever, and he has the terrifying footage to prove it.

Carlos Burle ventured off on the giant wave in Nazaré, Portugal. The beach at Praia do Norte is a popular spot for daredevils to catch large waves.

The current world record for riding the tallest wave was also set in Nazare. Garrett McNamarra conquered a 78ft monster in the same spot.

Burle's wave is estimated at 100 feet, but a confirmation of the record title by Guinness is pending.

According to Sports Grid, Burle took great risks to ride the wave, as he did so during a storm that took 11 lives.

Brazillian Maya Gabeira also tried to surf in the tempestuous waters, but she was left unconscious. She barely survived the incident, sources have detailed.
