Panos Panay, head of the Surface team, said in a short tweet that the Surface with Windows 8 Pro is now into production, so the device should go on sale in just a few weeks.

But data provided by AdDuplex, a cross-platform advertisement network, reveals that Microsoft has started testing the Surface Pro in November, with a total of 41 different units spotted so far.

“We’ve seen 41 Surface Pro installation so far with the first sighting on November 17, 2012,” Alan Mendelevich, founder of AdDuplex said in a tweet.

Microsoft is still tight-lipped on the subject, but an insider had previously told us that the Surface with Windows 8 Pro would go live on January 29, while sales are scheduled to kick off the next day. There will be two different models available, with pricing to start at $899 (€677).
