This month’s Patch Tuesday fixes broke down some Surface RT tablets

Patch Tuesday brought a number of important fixes of the Surface RT and Pro tablets, but it appears that some of the included updates are actually breaking down some devices.

According to some posts on Microsoft’s support forums, some Surface RT tablets fail to wake from sleep mode after applying the latest updates.

“I have to press power button rapidly repeatedly to get it to come up. It displays the surface splash screen and takes a bit to get to locked screen, almost like a reboot. It doesn't seem to happen if cover is not attached,” one user explained.

While a Microsoft forum moderator suggested that a system refresh should solve the issue, this doesn’t seem to be the case, and multiple users confirmed the same problem on their devices.

The company is yet to confirm a fix for this issue, but expect a new update to be released as part of next month’s Patch Tuesday cycle.
