Microsoft’s ad for the Surface is apparently quite catchy

Microsoft’s first TV commercial for the Surface device has been named the “most effective” tablet ad by video advertising analysis firm Ace Metrix.

While many poked fun at this video, more than 500 consumers participating in the Ace Metrix study placed the Microsoft advertisement on the leading spot, ahead of products such as Galaxy Note.

Ace Metrix says the Surface ad received an Ace Score of 674 thanks to its particular focus on change, desire and attention areas.

“iPhoria is wearing off in the tablet market, and the introduction of the Surface has given Microsoft quite a few 'cool' points among consumers. The new Surface ads have flipped the 'Mac vs. PC' campaign on its head introducing intense aspiration among consumers, as evidenced by very high 'change,' 'desire,' and 'attention' Ace scores,” Peter Daboll, CEO of Ace Metrix, said in a statement.

Microsoft’s Surface will hit the stores on October 26 and will come in three different versions, as follows: 32 GB with or without a Black Touch Cover and 64 GB with the magic cover.

Surprisingly, the cheapest version, which costs $499 (€380), has already been sold out after just one day, so all those who hope to get the tablet sooner have to personally buy it from a traditional Microsoft Store.

The Surface is Microsoft’s first bet in a market until now dominated by Apple and its utterly popular iPad. The device runs a special Windows version called Windows RT that does not support x86 and x64 apps, but instead comes with several built-in apps, including a free Office copy.
