The Surface Pro 3 limited Wi-Fi connectivity saga continues, this time with new confirmations from owners that the new firmware update released this month as part of the Patch Tuesday rollout doesn’t make any different.

The Surface Pro 3 is currently Microsoft’s most advanced tablet and was unveiled on May 20. Soon after that, however, owners started reporting the same issues that plagued other models, including the original Surface RT and the Surface Pro.

Just like it happened in the case of the Surface RT, Microsoft needed quite a lot of time to address the problems, but this month’s Patch Tuesday brought us a new firmware update that was said to finally put an end to reports claiming that Wi-Fi connections would drop all of a sudden.

It turns out that this isn’t the case, as some of the Surface Pro 3 buyers who have installed the firmware can’t see any difference, and the limited Wi-Fi connectivity bug still exists.

Wi-Fi connections still dropping, users complain

A number of Surface Pro 3 buyers have confirmed on the Microsoft’s Community forums that after installation and reboot of the device, the Wi-Fi connectivity issue still exists.

At this point, the only way to address the problem is to disable Wi-Fi and turn it back on, some say, while others claim that rebooting is the only working trick.

“Still having issues while waking up from sleeping. Please contact me if you need more info,” one user reported in a post this morning, just after getting the new firmware update.

“I can second that. Just installed all updates, and double checked that there aren't any more, including doing a reboot to be sure. Resume seems to reconnect but the connection is stuffed. Have to toggle flight node to reconnect. All those updates and this severe issue not among the fixes,” another one confirms the issue, explaining that toggling the Wi-Fi connection on and off is the only option at this point.

The new firmware also breaks down other tablets

Surprisingly, some of the tablets that were working flawlessly in the past months are now getting the same limited Wi-Fi connectivity errors after installing this month’s firmware update.

One Surface Pro 3 user has posted on the forums that today’s new firmware is causing the wireless connection to drop, even though everything worked just fine in the previous months.

“After September update I got the limited connection issue. Never had it before. Turning on and off Wifi fixed it,” he claims.

At this point, everyone expects Microsoft to come up with another fix, but it could take a while in case this month’s firmware update doesn’t indeed address the bug.
