Windows Blue, the first major upgrade for Windows 8, is expected to hit the market sometime this year and, in addition to plenty of improvements for the current Windows contraption, it’s also likely to comprise major changes for many other Microsoft products.

It’s no secret that Microsoft is working to expand the Surface tablet family, and the company itself admitted it a few months ago when executives confirmed that more Surface products are very likely.

A report by Press Blue, on the other hand, suggests that a Surface Mini tablet with a 7-inch display and running Windows Blue could hit the market before the end of the year.

In addition, it appears that Microsoft is pondering a $249 (€190) price tag that could make the new Surface tablet a powerful rival for iPad mini, currently sold for $329 (€329).

As usual, we should all take these rumors with a grain of salt, especially since Microsoft remains completely tight-lipped on the Blue subject.
