Word is that Microsoft is already working on a smaller version of the Surface tablet that would see daylight next year, but a new report comes to reveal some of the features to be introduced with the device.

WPDang writes that the Surface Mini would feature an 8-inch 1080p screen and Intel Bay Trail CPU running Windows 8.1, with a Windows RT version also likely to be developed.

At the same time, the device would come with a new technology based on Kinect that would recognize gestures, including people’s faces, which would allow buyers to control it without even touching the screen.

There are no details as to when the device could hit the shelves, but according to a previous report, Microsoft is planning to introduce the smaller Surface to the market in early 2014 in the United States and Canada.
