The Surface 2, which is currently the latest Microsoft tablet powered by Windows RT, is available with a price cut not only in the United States, but also in the United Kingdom, where several retailers are offering the device with an important discount.

The Surface 2 can now be yours from Currys and Tesco for only 259 pounds (325 euros / 430 dollars), but it's not yet clear how long this new promo is going to last.

In case you're wondering, the Surface 2 comes with either 32 GB or 64 GB of storage space, NVIDA Tegra 4 CPU, and a 10.6-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 px.

As you have most likely heard by now, Microsoft claims that its Surface tablets can easily replace a laptop, but needless to say, the Windows RT operating system that's powering the device isn't quite a great way to do your work.

Windows RT doesn't offer support for traditional desktop software, which is currently said to be the biggest shortcoming of the operating system, with many choosing to purchase a Surface Pro tablet to get full support for x86 software.

The Surface 2 is already available in a wide array of markets, and sources close to the matter claim that a successor is also in the works, most likely as a Windows RT flavor of the existing Surface Pro 3 model.
