Kung Fu Factory, as the developer, and publisher 505 Games have announced that their upcoming fighting game Supremacy MMA will be the first using the license to include playable female fighters, with initial announcements including Felice “Lil Dog” Herrig and Michele “Diablita” Gutierrez.
The upcoming
MMA simulation will use both the likenesses of the two fighters and their unique move sets and will aim to show how female fighters can be as tough as their male counterparts.
Felice Herrig, who fights for the Wand Fight Team, has said, “Being one of the first women to represent MMA in a videogame is a dream come true for me. This is our chance to finally show gamers that female fighters can hold their own.”
Gutierrez has also voiced delight as being chosen to appear in the game.
Supremacy MMA does not aim to portray the well-known legal side of the now global sport, but it will deliver to the player the more underground and unlicensed fights taking place under the MMA system.
The developers will deliver a presentation which uses all the television bells and whistles and the gameplay will be fat and fluid, with players able to chain complex moves to bring down their opponents and satisfy a pubic that is hungry for a good spectacle.
Peter Matiss, who is the vice president of marketing at 505 Games, has stated, “Bringing playable female fighters to fans in Supremacy MMA represents the strong stance we’re taking in bringing a totally unique game to market. Michele and Felice fight with the same ferocity and heart as any other fighter, regardless of gender, and we are proud to represent these strong, determined women in our game.”
Supremacy MMA is at the moment set to be released during the month of June for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
