Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has announced recently its Maemo 5-based Nokia N900 Internet Tablet and, although the device is not yet available for purchase on the market, it seems that its successor, Nokia N920, has already made an appearance in the wild. According to the news on the Internet, the upcoming successor of N900 is expected to have Maemo 6 on board, which is not too big of a surprise, considering that Nokia already announced that it was working on the future iteration of the platform.

According to a recent post on cnbeta, which also provided a photo of the supposed N920, we should expect for the upcoming tablet to sport only a touchscreen display, as the QWERTY keyboard has been taken out of the equation. However, the screen will be a large one, 4.13 inches, and will come with capacitive properties, while boasting a WVGA resolution. Other specs of the device include an ARM Cortex A8 processor, as well as 32GB of internal memory.

When it comes to the connectivity options that will be available with the N920, the news site point towards GSM / EDGE / WCDMA / HSPA capabilities, the same as the Maemo 5-powered predecessor. Moreover, the device is also expected to sport Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a built-in GPS receiver. A 3.5 mm audio jack will also come in the package, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper and a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

The Qt4.6 platform support that Maemo 6 is expected to come to the market with will also enable the N920 to deliver an experience on par with what PCs can deliver at the moment. It seems that the OS will also come with better portrait application integration, and will enable the N920 to prove much better than the yet unreleased N900. However, the prospected release date for the handset is only set for early 2010, while the actual availability on the market is said to occur much later. In case the rumors pan out, we'll have yet another high-end Maemo-based device to be on the lookout for.
