Great news for Detroit: Warner Bros. has confirmed that the “Man of Steel” sequel, the much talked about “Batman vs. Superman” (yes, with Ben Affleck as Batman), will be shooting in the city and other Michigan areas.

Variety has the details of the business deal that will bring a flush of cash into the economy of Detroit, while also providing jobs for thousands of extras, workers and vendors.

“The Michigan Film office has approved Warner Bros. follow up to the “Man of Steel” to receive $35 million [€26.4 million] in incentives to film in the state, beginning early next year,” the publication says.

“The actioner, that will star Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, will spend around $131 million [€98.9 million] in the state, the organization said Thursday,” adds the report.

Shooting starts in early 2014, with Detroit being used for both Gotham and Metropolis. The film will be out in 2015.
