14 DAY TRIAL // The Journey Down: Chapter Two, the second part of an amazingly fun and witty point and click adventure, has been announced and will be released on August 25.
The Journey Down is an episodic game and the developers released the first of four chapters back in May 2012. Even though it was met with great enthusiasm by players and was among the first games in the new Linux gaming wave, the developers from the SkyGoblin studio really took their time for the second part.
In fact, people who managed to play the first part of the game started wondering if the other chapters would ever be released. It turns out that SkyGoblin didn't want to just churn out one chapter after another, so the devs decided to greatly improve the second part of The Journey Down by listening to the community.
“TJD2 has taken us a long time to build. Why? Because we have truly challenged ourselves with it. We didn't want to just re-do what we did with the first game. We wanted to take the critique we got from the first game and battle it, head on. This has taken quite a while, but it has also made TJD2 a better game in every way possible,” say the devs on their website.
“The Journey Down is a point 'n' click series developed by the Swedish indie studio SkyGoblin, following in the vein of classic adventure games such as Monkey Island and Grim Fandango. In the second chapter of The Journey Down, the plot thickens as our heroes plunge down into the mist below the Edge and wind up in the foggy and treacherous town of Port Artue where they find themselves cornered by pirates and on the run from the law,” also note the guys from SkyGoblin.
The game is now available for preorder on their website. Buyers will also receive Steam keys and a free copy of the first game. To make things even more interesting, half of all pre-order revenues will go directly to the Mavuno girls' school project, an initiative designed to empower women in the Kagera region in north-west Tanzania.
The first chapter had a name, and it was called Over the Edge. The second part is titled Into the Mist, but the third and fourth episodes don't have names just yet. Below you can see a few screenshots from the new game and a fancy trailer. Enjoy!
