Superb Mini Server, a Linux operating system based on Slackware 13.37 and manageable through the Webmin web-based interface, is now at version 1.6.4.

Superb Mini Server 1.6.4 is a minor update, as it mostly brings security updates to 2.6.39 kernels for CVE-2012-0056 local root exploit. A local user could gain root privileges by modifying process memory, and for various packages such as OpenSSL, Samba, httpd, PHP.

Also, Superb Mini Server 1.6.4 has a brand new Linux kernel, version 3.2.5, which was released just a few days ago.

SMS LiveCD now issues default passwords at login prompt, to help the lazy ones, at least according to the developers.

A number of packages were updated, including Dovecot 2.0.17, Samba 3.6.3, OpenSSL 0.9.8t, PHP 5.3.10, and Webmin 1.5.80. A complete changelog can be found here.
