Superb Mini Server (SMS) 1.5.5 has been released. The latest version brings plenty of updated packages, some new ones and several new features. One notable addition is support for RAID configurations in both the live CD and the text installer.

All packages have been updated to the latest in the Slackware repositories. Other changes include removing the dual boot option, which didn't function correctly, and replacing fdisk with blkid.

"This release upgrade packages to slackware-current and brings the latest stable versions of several packages including php-5.3.5 & cups-1.4.6," the release announcement read.

"New packages in SMS-1.5.5 are, terminator (a tool for arranging terminals but it can also broadcast the same output to several terminals), lsscsi (listing SCSI devices utility) and perl-modules which split from perl package," it added.

"SMS.Live.CD now has RAID support, that means that will automatically find, assemble and mount existing RAID arrays while booting. Also added RAID support in sms-text-installer (lilo only supports RAID1 for booting)," it continued.
