The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, the second part of the famous adventure developed by KING Art Games, is now looking for funding on Kickstarter. It already looks like a resounding success, but fans can make it better.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 1 and The Critter Chronicles are a series of point and click games that have managed to capture the attention of the gaming community, after this genre has been almost dismissed in the last decade.

Less and less point and click adventure games are released each year, and the ones that do make it into this busy market are mediocre at best. The Book of Unwritten Tales 1 and The Critter Chronicles managed to set themselves above the rest with an amazing story, funny characters, and a rich cultural background.

The developers from KING Art Games making The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 want their game to fulfill a number of criteria. For example, it must provide about 20 hours of gameplay, and it should not abstain itself from poking fun at other major titles like WoW, LotR, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Discworld, D&D, The Hobbit, and others.

Also, the game must feature more complicated puzzles, which might require the player to use multiple characters at once, and a number of new maps (the number of levels will be dictated by the money raised through Kickstarter).

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 will be released on a multitude of operating systems, which include Linux, PC, and Mac OS X. All the versions will be DRM-free, along with the boxed releases.

“The full game consists of five chapters, each with a playtime of around 3 to 4 hours, so just like BoUT1 it will be one of the biggest adventure games out there. It will be big and it will be wicked. But we would love to push it even further – and that’s where you come in,” say the developers from KING Art Games on Kickstarter.

The developers have set out a number of goals for the crowdfunding campaign. They initially asked for $65,000 (€47,300), but they actually managed to raise a little over double that amount just in the first days. There are still 24 days to go and they could get a lot more money than they originally anticipated.

If The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 will be anything like the previous games, it's more than likely that January 2015 can't come fast enough.
