System 3 announces its plans to release a game called SuperCar Challenge in spring 2009, exclusively for the PlayStation 3 gaming console from Sony. The developer released a racing game called Ferrari Challenge this year. The game will be developed by Eutechnyx, which also handled development on the Ferrari game.

The idea behind SuperCar Challenge is to expand the number of cars that players can race around with. Even though not all the cars in the title will be revealed before launch, System 3 says that players will get a chance to drive the Aston Martin DB 9, the Lamborghini Murcielago RGT, the fan favorite McLaren F1 and the Ferrari FXX, one of the most powerful cars created by the company. The game will ship with 40 playable cars.

What’s a racing game without some very interesting tracks to race on? System 3 says that they plan to include 20 complete tracks in SuperCar Challenge, comprised of classics like Silverstone, Spa Francochamps, Nurburgring and Mugello in Italy. The multiplayer aspect of the game will allow 16 players to race on the same track at once, without any lag, thanks to the robust server system offered by Sony for PlayStation 3 multiplayer.

As Ferrari Challenge has already done, the title will allow gamers to choose whether they want to play more of an arcade racer, with limited options to customize the car, or whether they aim to experience a full simulation, which allows them to have full control over the way their car works, from tuning tire pressure to tweaking engine power.

System 3 also reveals that once the game launches, it should be offering more cars as downloadable content and even a new level of Artificial Intelligence, called Legendary, which is going to challenge even the best players.
