Capybara Games' action platformer is a kind of reinvented Contra

Super Time Force ULTRA, the enhanced version of Capybara Games' 2D side-scrolling shooter, is making its way to Steam, landing there next week, on August 25.

The platforming shooter is largely based on the Contra series, and the studio has revealed that the enhanced version will include the 50 new Helladeck challenge levels, some new interdimensional Ultra Force powers, as well as three new and yet unannounced characters.

The gameplay introduces a twist to traditional action platformers, where players have 30 lives to run through bullet hell levels, and when they die, they can rewind their timestream to pick things up during a prior character's run, or restart with a whole new one.

For the time being, the enhanced edition of Super Time Force is only announced for PC, but the original release is available on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles from Microsoft.

Presumably, the Ultra edition of the game will also make its way to Microsoft's platforms, and even to PlayStations, as Sony has been courting a lot of indie devs lately.

Having an indie game exclusive to just one platform and then getting an enhanced release that jumps platforms is not exactly unheard of, as Guacamelee! dev DrinkBox can attest to.
