Indie game makers Capybara have just released a brand new video today, showing some of the time-manipulating features of their upcoming side-scrolling shooter, Super Time Force, such as the ability to slow down the flow of time.

For those of you not in the know, when it comes to pixelated quality games, there are few who could hold a candle to Capybara’s vivid and highly atmospheric style.

They started out with mobile titles such as Critter Crunch, then worked their way up to Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, before finally adopting the pixel as their god and delivering Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery.

Super Time Force, their next title alongside the mysterious Below, is a frantic side-scrolling shooter that takes advantage of some unique time-bending mechanics to introduce a fresh spin on the classic Contra-inspired action.

Every level contains three mysterious power-ups, powerful inter-dimensional artifacts called Shards. When you shoot one of them, time will slow down by a large factor for everyone and everything on the screen but you, giving you the opportunity to hastily take down some opponents or masterfully avoid incoming fire.

Super Time Force is set to release on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles on May 14.
