Super Talent Unveils Project X DDR3 Memory

- They are tuned for the smallest possible latencies

By: Bogdan Botezatu, Hardware Editor

Memory manufacturer Super Talent has just released its 2GB DDR3-2000 Project X memory modules, touted as being the fastest products of this kind on the market. Although the new offering is delivered by one
of the most important memory manufacturers on the market, pricing is surprisingly lower than compared to a no-name product.

According to the company, the Project X memory is one of the most advanced memory products, designed and manufactured entirely by Super Talent in its Silicon Valley Engineering Labs. The Project X memory modules are an interesting cocktail of increased clock speeds and out-of-the-box overclocking, that results in minimal latencies.

The manufacturer claims that its flagship memory product operates at 2GHz, with 9-9-9-18 timings achieved at just 1.9 volts. This is quite a performance, given the fact that DDR3 memory products come with increased clock latencies, and usually take about 2.2 volts when operating at normal levels.

However, the Project X memory is more than low latencies and increased clock speeds: Super Talent's modules come with an innovative cooling solution to dissipate the residual heat generated by the high-frequency DDR3 memory chips.

Project X memory sports specially engineered heatspreaders, that almost double the contact surface with the DDR3 chips, and more than 106 percent the aluminum quantity used for an average heatspreader. Moreover, the contact surface is abundantly greased with Super Talent's special thermal compound for superior heat dissipation that results in a cooler, faster memory device.

The Project X memory modules (W2000UX2GP) come in dual-channel memory kits for a total capacity of 2 GB. All the products are carefully screened to ensure full dual-channel compatibility, manually tested before leaving the factory. Super Talent covers its memory products with a lifetime warranty.

The 2 GB kits are available immediately for an estimative retail price of about $400.
