For the recent past months, the Flash-based storage market has grown significantly, thanks to the introduction of a number of new Solid State Drives that deliver an enhanced level of performance for a price that is considerably lower than that of the initial models. Among the most significant products that contributed to the faster adoption of SSD technology were Intel's X25-M and X18-M mainstream SSDs, known for their high level of performance and relatively affordable price tag. However, companies like Super Talent are also looking to improve their SSD technology and deliver products that are faster and more reliable. Just recently, Super Talent announced that it was shipping the MasterDrive RX family of SSDs with capacities of up to 512GB.

“The MasterDrive RX is the latest product utilizing our patented RAIDSSD Technology. This product is great! From a performance standpoint it’s like having two SSDs in the space of one, and it extends our standard 2.5” SATA-II product line to include a 512GB SSD,” said Jeremy Werner, senior product marketing manager at Super Talent.

Performance wise, the new MasterDrive RX with RAIDSSD technology can deliver a maximum sequential read speed of 230MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 160MB/s. These figures reflect the performance of Super Talent's MLC-based SSDs, as the SLC-based versions can deliver a more impressive 230MB/s read and 200MB/s write speeds. The MLC drives are available in capacities of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, while the SLC models come with capacities of 128GB and 256GB.

The new drives are compatible with all known operating systems and come in a 2.5-inch form factor, featuring a SATA-II connecting interface. The drives are now available for purchase and ship with a 3-year warranty for the SLC versions and 2-year warranty for the MLC models. Price wise, Super Talent said that the 512GB SSD was available for under $1500.
