Super Talent Releases 4GB ProjectX DDR3-1800 Memory Kit

- Touted again as the world’s most advanced DDR3 memory

By: Bogdan Botezatu, Hardware Editor

DRAM specialist Super Talent has just released another memory offering in the overclocking-class ProjectX family. The new DDR3 memory modules have been launched as DDR3-1800 4GB dual-channel kits, commercially
known as W1800UX4GP.

The ProjectX memory family is touted as being the most advanced DDR3 offering in the world. Built with selected DRAM chips manufactured by Micron, the modules are carefully tested to support prolonged stress under extreme operating conditions. The manufacturer claims that every module is tested as a matched pair before leaving the factory on a dual-channel Asus Striker II Extreme motherboard.

"This represents another major first-to-market milestone for Super Talent," commented Super Talent Marketing Director, Joe James. "While competitors are only able to produce 4GB kits up to DDR3-1600, we’ve engineered a kit that performs at elevated clock speeds, while still supporting aggressive latencies."

The new memory modules are developed at Super Talent’s Silicon Valley Engineering Labs and combine increased clock speeds with carefully tweaked latency values for maximum attainable performance during overclocking.

In order to protect the delicate DRAM circuitry from popping off because of the high amounts of residual heat accumulating inside the DRAM chips, Super Talent ships the modules in a specially designed heatspreader that almost doubles its contact surface. More than that, the special silver-based thermal compound ensures proper transfer between the DRAM chips and the aluminum heatspreaders equipped with black thick fins.

Each of the two 2 GB memory modules operates at 1800MHz with CL8 8-8-24 latency settings and 1.9V voltage. According to the company, there is no other memory manufacturer to deliver such speeds in dual-channel 2 GB offerings.

Super talent's DDR3-1800 ProjectX 4GB memory kits will arrive on the market later this month and will sell for an estimative price of about $499.
