As Solid State Drives become increasingly popular and technology advances at an accelerated pace, storage manufacturers are rushing to provide better and ever more affordable SSDs. On that note, Super Talent has just announced a pair of new SATA-II SSDs that not only deliver an impressive performance level and storage capacity, but can also be considered an affordable upgrade to current storage solutions.

Super Talent is one of the leading providers of Flash-based storage solutions and DRAM memory modules. Just recently, the company announced two new SATA 3.0 Gbps SSDs, designed to deliver an improvement in performance over existing solid state drives. The latest additions to the company’s MasterDrive lineup have been built to basically provide users with a reliable SSD option that isn't as expensive as most of the other similar products on the market. As a matter of fact, users will be able to benefit from a maximum of 128GB of storage space on a Super Talent SSD for under $300.

“The MasterDrive LX is our most cost-effective SSD yet. However, we’ve made no compromises in quality and reliability,” Super Talent Director of Marketing, Joe James, explained.

As noted above, the new SSDs are part of the company's MasterDrive LX lineup and can deliver maximum read/write speeds of 100 and 40 MB/s, respectively. They will be offered in 64GB and 128GB capacities, and will retail for an expected street price of $179 and $299. In addition, the new SSDs also include features such as integrated ECC, wear leveling and bad bit management, all of which are meant to improve their reliability and boost their lifespan.

The company's new solid state drives have been designed with a 2.5-inch form factor and a SATA II interface, so they should prove a cost-effective upgrade option for some of the current portable computer systems on the market. Unfortunately, they are backed by just one year of warranty, which could make some potential customers turn to other options instead.
