San Jose, California-based Super Talent has recently updated its SSD offering with the introduction of the new Mini PCIe SSD upgrades for Dell's Inspiron Mini 9 and the expansion of its 2.5-inch MasterDrive SSD series. Following the aforementioned products, the Flash memory vendor also announced that it was offering SSD upgrades for one of the world's most popular netbooks, ASUS' Eee PC. According to Super Talent, these new products can deliver increased capacity and faster performance for some of ASUS' most successful Eee PC netbooks.

Jeremy Werner, Sr. product marketing manager, Super Talent, said, “We were the first company to enable users to upgrade their Eee PCs with our SATA Mini PCIe. Now we have increased read performance by 50% and nearly doubled write performance with the second generation SATA Mini 2 PCIe SSD.”

According to Super Talent, users of the ASUS Eee PC 900, 901, 901A Go, and the stylish S101, will be able to take advantage of the performance enhancements delivered by the latest SSD for Eee PCs. As far as technical specifications go, these new SATA Mini 2 PCIe SSDs have been built using MLC NAND Flash chips, providing increased capacity and a more affordable solution, when compared to SLC-based SSDs. However, Super Talent also unveiled two SSDs that have been featured with SLC technology.

The new MLC-based drives will be available in capacities of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB and will provide users with sequential read and write speeds of 150MB/s and 100MB/s, respectively. Meanwhile, the SLC version will be available only in 16GB and 32GB capacities, featuring read and write speeds of 170MB/s and 130MB/s.

Super Talent's new MLC-based SSDs for ASUS Eee PCs should be available at an estimated street price of US$85.99, US$125 and US$219.99 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models.
