The development team at Nintendo says that it is working on a single-player game mode for the upcoming Super Smash Bros., but it will not use the Subspace Emissary structure that was introduced in Brawl.

Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the game, is quoted by the Official Nintendo Magazine as saying that, “One thing we can do with the Smash Bros. series that’s unique to us — because we have all these different disparate characters brought together — is we can create that sort of fan-movie experience as a special gift.”

Nintendo also plans to create a number of movies that will be unlocked from the start of the game and will be linked to Wii Fit Trainer, The Villager and Mega Man.

Super Smash Bros. will be out in 2014 on the Wii U home console and the 3DS handheld.
