A while ago, the release date for the upcoming Super Smash Bros was pegged for Spring 2014 by a circulating rumor.

The rumor claimed that Bernd Fakesch, Nintendo Germany general manager, said he was expecting the game to be released together with Mario Kart 8, during Spring.

Unfortunately, it seems that the rumor was incorrect, and fans of the series will have to wait a little longer for one of the most anticipated games of 2014.

Upon hearing of this rumor, Masashiro Sakurai, the director of the Super Smash Bros series, went on record to disprove it. According to his twitter, the official release date remains somewhere within 2014, but it will not be in spring, via Siliconera.

At the moment, details on the game are pretty scarce, as the team is still working on most of the modes and feature that will be included in the game.

The game is scheduled to release for Wii U and the 3DS, with each variant benefitting from exclusive features.
