The development team working on Super Smash Bros. has dropped a wide array of information for fans of the upcoming title in the brawling series and it seems that those who get it on the 3DS handheld will be able to experience a unique mode that’s not replicated on the Wii U home console.

During the Nintendo Direct stream, the creator of the series, Masahiro Sakurai, said that gamers would be able to enjoy an entirely new concept called Smash Run, which allowed up to four players to explore, combat enemies and get power-ups in a large dungeon-like level.

For the first five minutes, gamers will be unable to attack each other, but will have to find every advantage they can because once time is up, they will be thrown together in order to fight for overall supremacy.

Sakurai says that rules are similar to those of Kirby Air Ride’s City Trial and suggests that it will be best to use randomly chosen characters when playing Smash Run.

The developer also offers a lot of information on the move sets for the roster of characters that will be included in the new Super Smash Bros. and on how they will change traditional player strategies.

Fan favorite Samus still uses the Zero Laser for the final smash move, but the results are different and her suit no longer falls apart, while the developers are also allowing the Zero Suit version of the character to appear in the game.

Sakurai says that there are no plans to allow any character to change form because the team wants to keep the game simple to pick up and play, without asking gamers to learn extensive move sets.

Zelda will also be featured in Super Smash Bros. and the new attack designed for the character is the Phantom Slash, which can be used either defensively or offensively.

The Wii Fit trainers are indistinguishable in terms of abilities and will use Deep Breathing and Sun Salutation as their two core techniques.

Super Smash Bros. will be launched on the 3DS handheld in the summer of this year and the company promises that despite the use of stereoscopic 3D, the game will run at 60 frames per second.

Those who want to play on the Wii U home console will need to wait until winter of this year and Nintendo says that the extra time is needed so that the developers can craft a solid game experience that’s true to the essence of the series.
