It seems that a certain, revolutionary display that Samsung created for the tablet market and, perhaps, small laptops not too long ago has finally been pictured, although only a lab demo panel was available for the so-called photo shoot.

It isn't often that IT players can really come out and boast about having developed a game changing product.

Granted, small or mild advancements are made all the time, but real technological leaps are farther between, especially in areas where more than a few companies are hard at work.

The display industry is one such area, but Samsung still managed to cause mass jaw dropping, at least to some extent, just days ago.

What the company did was create a 10-inch display panel, mostly for tablets, which has a native resolution much higher than most monitors and high-quality TVs of today.

More specifically, instead of settling for the common 1,024 x 600 pixels, or even for the HD format (1,366 x 768 pixels), Samsung went a whole flight of stairs higher.

Basically, the 10.1-inch panel is a WQXGA display, meaning that the resolution is of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels.

Samsung has yet to actually bring out a finished screen of this sort, since this will only happen at SID Display Week. There, in partnership with Nuovoyance, the outfit will demonstrate a prototype.

In the meantime, users can feast their eyes on the photos of an early lab demo model, although it is not at the same level as the upcoming one.

For those that want a reminder, the screen boasts the PenTile RGBW technology, has a color gamut of 72 percent, 300 dpi and a brightness of up to 300 cd/m2.

What remains is to see how fast slates are at incorporating the panel and if it can be done without too much of a price increase.
