14 DAY TRIAL // Seeing as how Nintendo revealed almost all of the details concerning its upcoming 3DS portable handheld device, Sega has also revealed that it will be bringing its popular Super Monkey Ball franchise to the 3D-enabled platform.
The Nintendo 3DS is scheduled to appear in February in its native Japan, and will then hit European and North American shores around March.
Seeing as how the platform is shaping up to be the next big thing, several large publishers have already confirmed that they will be bringing their popular franchises to the new Nintendo 3DS.
Among them is Sega, which has just revealed that its more casual-oriented Super Monkey Ball series will spawn a new title, exclusive to the 3DS.
“The moment I saw the features of the Nintendo 3DS, I could not help thinking how perfectly Super Monkey Ball would work on this new hardware. I could quickly picture myself holding the Nintendo 3DS using the motion sensor and playing Super Monkey Ball” commented Toshiro Nagoshi, creator and developer of the Super Monkey Ball franchise.
“The simple gameplay allows players to enjoy the 3D graphics to the fullest and now that we have brought this vision to life...bingo! We have our all-time favourite Super Monkey Ball experience with the new excitement of the Nintendo 3DS!”
Super Monkey Ball for the Nintendo 3DS will be developed by Sega's Japanese studio, and will feature the main series' protagonist AiAi, alongside MeeMee, GonGon and Baby, all rendered in 3D
The new game will have three gameplay types, including single-player puzzles, a Monkey Race and Monkey Flight.
Players can compete locally via the Wi-Fi connection, with up to three other friends, and also be able to control the game with either the Nintendo 3DS' built-in motion sensor or the slide pad, for complete precission.
Super Monkey Ball for the Nintendo 3DS is set to be launched in 2011 by Sega.
