The team will make sure that the entire experience is not confusing

Yoshiaki Koizumi, a producer working on Super Mario 3D World, says that the entire franchise might return to an open world structure in the coming years as long as the fans continue to ask for it.

At the same time, the company wants to develop a way of delivering that kind of experience that does not leave the player confused or unsure about his progress path.

Mario existed in an open world in the Sunshine title, but the community did not embrace the new approach.

The developer is quoted by VG247 as saying that, “Our main standpoint with Super Mario is to ensure that players always know where to go. It’s for this reason that we have given great importance on the placement and visibility of the flags, particularly in Super Mario 3D World.”

He adds, “However, if a very large number of players expressed the desire for a more open Mario, we would take that request very seriously.”

Super Mario 3D World will be launched on November 22 in the United States and one week later in Europe, exclusively on the Wii U home console.

Koizumi also says that his team currently has no plans to deliver any sort of downloadable content to the game after launch, after the limited appeal of the Luigi mode that was offered for New Super Mario Bros.

The new Mario game is designed to offer the classic platformer experience but with some unique twists, including a new set of costumes for the characters to use and new challenges to deal with.

The game is designed to push up Wii U sales in time for the crucial holiday shopping season, but Nintendo has admitted that one solid game launch will not be enough to generate the numbers that are needed in order to make the console profitable in the long term.
