NINTENDO

Super Mario Galaxy on Nintendo DS, at Least on YouTube

- Hoax time or a pleasant surprise from Nintendo?

By: Alexandru Stanescu, Editor, Gaming Reviews (Consoles)

The YouTube video below is one of the few places where's you'll see good old Mario and Luigi being featured in a game that's pretty unlikely to be released any time soon. I'm talking about Super Mario Galaxy, one of the best (and best-selling Wii titles). The folks over at Gizmodo (the place where we stumbled upon the vid) are keen on contradictions when it comes to the authenticity of this
video.

I, for one, thinks it's a major hoax, but not one pulled by Nintendo, but by some major Mario fan who's doing this for kicks or for YouTube views. One of the best arguments for the hoax theory is the fact that the DS can't render such nice graphics. Since the game's only been out for about a month or so, already selling a million copies, Nintendo would really kill its own creation, by releasing a port so soon. Well, maybe they're making up for the fact that there aren't enough Wii-s around to play the game... The game's producers has been quiet till now, no official confirmation, nobody denies the rumor, nothing...

We've seen Halo 3 on PSP and even then there were people who actually believed that they'll see a handheld version of the game. Well, at least this time, this port is more doable than the previously mentioned platform switch. In case you're wondering why anyone would want to mess with a Mario game, it may be the fact that it has won Edge magazine's 2007 Game of Year and Audio Design awards plus Best Action and Best Wii game at the 2007 Spike Video Game Awards (as seen on Wikipedia).

What's you take on this supposedly hoax? Do you believe we'll hold one of the best Mario-based adventures in our hands and game away? Comment below and bring new info in case you know something we don't.
