Super Mario 64 DS is an exclusive Nintendo DS video game made by Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development studio, published for the portable platform by the Japanese company itself, released on November 21, 2004, in North America, December 2, that same year, in Japan, on February 24, 2005, in Australia, and on March 11, 2005, in Europe, as a remastered edition of the original Super Mario 64 that appeared first on the Nintendo 64 home console.
The new game didn't try to fundamentally change the mechanics of the original, as the gameplay is pretty much the same, but the studio did improve on the visuals, which now took advantage of the more powerful DS hardware, while extra characters, like Yoshi or Wario, were added besides Mario, to keep things fresh.
