Super Mario 64 DS is a Nintendo DS exclusive video game, developed by Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development division, and released by the Japanese company itself on November 21, 2004, in North America, December 2, that same year, in Japan, on February 24, 2005, in Australia, and on March 11, 2005, in Europe, as a new and improved version of its classic Nintendo 64 title Super Mario 64.
The original title became an instant classic back in the 1990s, being the first 3D Mario game in the history of the franchise, so the developer hasn't tried to implement that many changes to its core gameplay, but did improve on the visuals, by taking advantage of the more powerful DS, while adding new characters, like Yoshi or Wario, and special areas to the game's virtual world.
HINTS
Character power-ups
Luigi
- Flower: Makes Luigi invincible to most things. He can go through screens and other objects.
- Note: Luigi can run on water for a short time. Also, if you jump and hold it, he kicks his feet fast and falls slower. If you try to do a triple jump with Luigi it can be more difficult -- if you hold it for about one second, he kicks and you will not be able to finish the triple jump.
Wario
- Flower: Metal Wario; he is invincible and can stay underwater.
- Note: Wario is the slowest character. He also lacks jumping skills, but he is the best at Ground Pounds. He can break black bricks.
Easy health refill
-When Mario's energy is low, find water, swim underwater, then get some air.
-If you are low on health, just find a body of water and jump in. Stay at the surface and your health meter will refill.
-To regain health, just collect coins. You can also try to destroy an enemy to see if an item appears.
