Super Mario 64 DS is a game made just for the Nintendo DS by Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development division, and published by the company itself on November 21, 2004, in North America, December 2, that same year, in Japan, on February 24, 2005, in Australia, and on March 11, 2005, in Europe, as a remastered version of its classic Nintendo 64 game Super Mario 64.
Because the original title had such a large cult appeal, being the first 3D Mario game ever, the development studio didn't implement many changes in the new version, keeping the gameplay and the story largely the same, but did implement a few improvements, in terms of graphics, thanks to the more powerful hardware of the Nintendo DS, and even added a few new characters like Yoshi or Wario, who have special powers different from Mario.
HINTS
Secret Stars
-There are secret Stars in the hole in wall across from rainbow place. You can get one by collecting red coins and one in a black brick. First, fly to the place with Wario's cap, then use the canon. Aim it to the tree and put it slightly higher. Break the black brick and a Star will appear.
Secret areas
-When you have a good amount of Stars, go to the part of Peach's castle, where there is a flame-like painting on the wall. Then, go down the left hallway until you reach a dead end. Jump through the wall at the dead end. If done correctly on the correct wall, you will access a secret level.
-After entering the castle, go upstairs. Go halfway around the pillar in the middle and enter the door to the right on your map. Go up the stairs in that room and look to the left. Enter that wall sideways of the mirror on the left side to access a secret level with seven available Stars as any level would have.
