Super Mario 64 DS is a game made only for the Nintendo DS portable system, created by Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development division and published by the Japanese company itself on November 21, 2004, in North America, December 2, that same year, in Japan, on February 24, 2005, in Australia, and on March 11, 2005, in Europe, as a remake of the original Super Mario 64 that appeared back in the 1990s for the Nintendo 64 home console.
This remastered DS version of the game doesn't try to alter the main traits of the classic title, in order to attract those that want to experience it once more or who didn't get a chance to do so the first time, but does upgrade things like graphics or gameplay, by taking advantage of the more powerful DS handheld, while adding extra playable characters, including Yoshi or Wario, who have special powers that come in handy in certain areas of the game's world.
