Super Flower's passively cooled, 80PLUS Platinum certified, 500W power supply unit has managed to win the recommendation of one of the most prestigious PSU review websites around, as the unit performed flawlessly in all the tests that it was put through.

The PSU is known as the Super Flower Golden Silent 500W Fanless and it was the subject of a detailed analysis on the JonnyGuru website.

At the end of a grueling sets of tests, the unit was awarded 9 out of 10 point and the conclusions read: “If you need something powerful, stable, efficient and utterly noise-less I don't see what competition this unit has. Super Flower. Winning.”

Outside of the fanless design and of the 80PLUS Platinum certification, the reviewer also appreciated the build quality, low ripple and excellent voltage stability of the Super Flower Golden Silent 500W.

Moving to the specifications of the power supply unit, the Golden Silent 500W uses a modular design and it features two 6-pin and two 6+2 pin PCI Express cables, support for up to six SATA drives, as well as five MOLEX plugs.

On the power front, the 12V current is delivered via a single rail that is able to output 41.5A for a grand total of 498W, while the combined power of the 3.3V and 5V rails is rated at 100W.

While this exceeds the maximum 500W rating of the PSU, the Sunflower unit is able to sustain such loads without any issues, even when tested at high temperatures.

Finally, the only two things that dent the attractiveness of the Super Flower Golden Silent 500W have to do with pricing and availability, as it's extremely hard to get a hold off such a PSU outside Asia without having to resort to all sort of desperate practices that drive the acquisition price way up.
