Lifetime warranty on a power supply unit is something extremely rare if not completely new

In a bid to tap into the “quiet computer” market niche, Super Flower has just announced a new efficient power supply that completely lacks any kind of active cooling system. Fanless power supplies are rare and very expensive and more competition will only drive the prices down.

The official name of the new model is Super Flower SF-500P14FG and this is reportedly a 500 watts unit that sports a decent 80 Plus Platinum-compliant efficiency rating and comes with partial modularity.

We say that the Super Flower SF-500P14FG is only partially modular because the main ATX cable is not detachable while all the other power lines are.

As it doesn’t have any cooling fan inside, the Super Flower SF-500P14FG is completely quiet and, despite the fact that the higher temperatures are usually a serious issue for fanless PSUs, the manufacturer trusts its design so much that it backs it up with a full 5-year warranty.

We’ve seen premium PSUs before and some even had 7-year warranties, but Super Flower is definitely trying to make a name for itself as it also offers an optional Lifetime-warranty for the new model.

Pricing is slated at a decent $127 (99 EUR).
