Just head on to Walmart or a Sam's Club store

Escapism can be a wonderful thing after a tiresome week, and what better way to feel free of your current condition than becoming a superhero? There's a reason kids use make-believe as a matter of course. Now you can do that too.

Admittedly, you'll probably never lose touch with reality to the point where you actually believe you are an actual superpowered individual. Unless you've gone for days without sleep or partook in certain soporifics for whatever reason, causing you to experience actual revelry.

Still, the act of pretending, even if it only lasts a few moments, can be good for your mood. It could be a cool way to bond with your offspring too, for that matter.

The latest partnership between Hasbro, Walmart, Disney Consumer Products, and 3DPlusMe will allow you to not just imagine yourself as Ironman or whoever, but actually get your face under the helmet.

The Super Awesome Me project

Super Awesome Me is the name that the four partners decided on when they put their idea into practice. And said idea was to make scans of people's faces and then print them as part of action figures.

Hasbro is one of the world's best known gaming brands, selling toys of all kinds, from My Little Pony dolls to board game figurines (Dungeons & Dragons) and action figures, most notably Transformers.

As part of the new partnership, Hasbro, in addition to Disney, is contributing the branding, while Walmart is providing the venue (though you can go to a Sam’s Club store as well) and 3DPlusMe is doing the actual work.

The process

It goes like this: a person allows their head to be 3D scanned, after which Super Awesome Me will print a miniature replica of their head and place it on a Captain America or Iron Man action figure body. All this for a price of $45 / €35.

The action figures are roughly 12 inches tall (30 centimeters) and have all the requisite moving parts you might expect. Basically, they're among the larger action figures out there, so the price is actually pretty reasonable. Especially since it lets parents (dads anyway) become their kids' heroes, literally.

The scan takes about 3-5 minutes, but completing and delivering the personalized action figure will take around four weeks, so make sure you go and put an order in advance if you want to give your kid a Super Awesome You as a Christmas present.

Do keep in mind that the Super Awesome Me project won't last forever. You've got between today and September 28 to drop by one of the locations listed below.
