Developer Insomniac Games has released yet another video in the SunsetTV web series, meant to showcase the wealth of action packed into the company's upcoming third-person shooter, Sunset Overdrive.

This time around, Brandon Winfrey, the usual host of the show, is replaced by Stephanie, highlighting some weapon mods and answering some questions from the community.

The upcoming shooter explores a different kind of mid-apocalyptic experience, forgoing the gritty, horrific approach and instead focusing on delivering non-stop fun and over-the-top action.

Everyone has mutated after binging on a brand new energy drink, and players now have to use a wide array of implements of destruction in order to liberate the city from gooey oppression. All this, of course, has to be done while blitzing around at a break-neck pace, using the innovative traversal system that's part parkour, part Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and part frog simulator.

Weapons and mods

Each of the weapons can be customized with an amp, conferring it additional effects. The video provides some examples of this: for instance, the Rocket Man amp gives any weapon the chance to spawn an array of rockets from the body of a slain enemy, dealing massive damage to nearby enemies.

The Burn Baby Burn amp offers you a chance to set your enemies ablaze when you hit them, even offering vinyl ricochets a chance to explode on impact.

The Hater amp can turn enemies over to your cause, or rather to no cause, making them fight amongst themselves for a short period of time.

Community input

In addition to providing the reveals about weaponry and customized destruction, the latest Sunset TV episode also answers a number of questions from fans of the upcoming third-person shooter.

Players won't need to worry about taking any fall damage, even when jumping from high-up areas. Whenever you fall, you can either do a ground slam, taking out some pesky mutants, or simply roll on the sidewalk like an urban ninja.

The video also showcases a piece of fan art submitted by an artist from the community, featuring the Sunset Overdrive motto of "be who you want to be."

The game also comes with a bunch of character customization options, allowing players to tailor their character to better suit their persona of choice while enjoying plastering mutant guts all over the colorful city of Sunset City, while zip-lining and grinding all the conveniently placed rails.

Sunset Overdrive is headed exclusively for the Xbox One computer entertainment system from Microsoft, and it's coming out on October 28 in North America and on October 31 in Europe.
